Victor G. Sholar

Victor G. Sholar is a native of St. Louis, Mo. He is the son of Sharon Shelton-Sholar and the late Victor Sholar. He is married to the former Athena L. Taylor and is the proud father of four sons: Jonathan, Josiah, Jeremiah, and Joshua.

Pastor Sholar graduated from Lincoln University, Jefferson City, Missouri, in 1996 receiving a Bachelor of Science in Journalism and began his professional career in governmental administration. During this time, the Lord placed a higher calling on him, serving as the Campus Director of the Baptist Student Union where he taught bible study for Prison Fellowship Ministries.

Heeding the Lord's call, after much prayer and counsel, he resigned from this position and moved his family to California to attend the Master's Seminary in Sun Valley, California.

Pastor Sholar was licensed for gospel ministry by Pastor Wayne Cooper, Lincoln Avenue Baptist Church, Pasadena, CA in March 2003. He graduated from the Master's Seminary in 2004 and received a Master's of Divinity Degree. Shortly thereafter, the Lord blessed him to become Associate Pastor at the Los Angeles Community Bible Church (LACBC) while also serving as a Bible instructor at the Los Angeles Bible Training School (LABTS). He served in these two positions for 6 years. He was ordained during this tenure.

On the night of April 26th, 2010, the Lord sovereignly and graciously moved upon the hearts of the saints of Main Street Baptist Church, to extend the call to Victor G. Sholar to become its 15th Pastor. After praying to his Father in Heaven, he was humbled, honored and happy to accept this calling. As Main Street Baptist Church begins her next chapter, Pastor Victor G. Sholar looks forward to continuing the legacy of the pastors that have come before him in presenting... "every man complete in Christ..." (Col. 1:28).
